The Accident
Car accident claims are among the most common types of accident claims in the UK. If you have had a car accident that wasn’t your fault, regardless of whether you have comprehensive or third party car insurance, we can provide you with car crash advice and a free replacement vehicle.
If you are comprehensively insured you don’t have to claim on your policy if you have had a non-fault car accident. We can organise the repairs to your vehicle and send the bill directly to the car insurance company of the person who was responsible for causing the car accident. This means you keep your excess and your premium or no claims discount won’t be affected if the claim is not settled by the time your policy is due for renewal.
How we can help following a car accident
The sooner you contact us for car crash advice following your non-fault car accident, the sooner we can get your vehicle repairs underway.
You will need to provide us with the date, time and place of the car crash accident and a description of how the accident happened. In order for you to get your vehicle repairs underway, we will also need the name, address, registration number and insurance company of the person who you believe was responsible for causing the accident.
Even if you don’t have the full details of the person who caused the accident, we may still be able to help. We may be able to trace the other person, through various sources including the police (if they attended the scene of the accident) and the DVLA database.
Should the other person be untraceable or uninsured, we may still be able to pursue a claim for personal injury compensation and damage to your vehicle through an organisation called the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), an organisation funded by the insurance industry to assist people who have been involved in a car accident or motorcycle accident with untraced or uninsured drivers.
We will instruct an independent, insurance company approved engineer to inspect your vehicle, within 72 hours of receiving your claim. They will assess the damage to your vehicle and produce a written report outlining the estimated cost of repairs.
We will liaise with the insurance company of the person who was responsible for the accident and, once we have received the engineer’s report, we will give you the go ahead for you to book your vehicle to be repaired at an insurance company approved garage.
